TYPES OF HAUNTINGS

There are 6 basic types of haunting or paranormal activity:  intelligent, residual, demonic, poltergeist, shadow people, and elemental.

Ghosts and paranormal investigations should be listed withing one or these 6 areas.

Demon: A demon is a non-corporeal entity that has never been human (and never will be human) that lives on another plane of existence. Demons are evil sons-of-bitches that seek only to hurt and harm tasty folks like us. You don’t want to call a demon, play with a demon, or invite a demon to dinner. They’re bad news all the way around.

Elementals – Spiritualists commonly refer to this term to describe mean or angry spirits sometimes also called “Earth Spirits”.

An intelligent haunting is when a spirit or ghost wants to be noticed and has an intelligence about it. A good example of an intelligent haunting is when a spirit or ghost wishes to communicate and patterns form where it indicates interaction in this time. Hence Intelligent interaction..

In ghostlore, a poltergeist (/ ˈ p oʊ l t ər ˌ ɡ aɪ s t / or / ˈ p ɒ l t ər ˌ ɡ aɪ s t /; German for "noisy ghost" or "noisy spirit") is a type of ghost or spirit that is responsible for physical disturbances, such as loud noises and objects being moved or destroyed.

A residual haunting is like a recording that plays itself over and over again. Like footsteps down a hallway, or clapping and laughing at a theater. It happened so many times that it imprinted on the area around it. The same thing is repeated again and again. You can not communicate with what ever it is.

Shadow people are somewhat different than ghost phenomena. Whereas ghost apparitions are almost always a misty white, vapor-like or have a decidedly human form and appearance (very often with discernible "clothing"), shadow beings are much darker and more shadow-like. In general, although the shadow people often do have a human outline or shape, because they are dark, the details of their appearance is lacking.
