EQUIPMENT

So many times, I've been asked, "where do I purchase Ghost Hunting equipment?"  The answer is... just about anywhere.   You can shop on Amazon for certain pieces or tools.   You can also go to specialized Para-Equipment websites.   The fact is, the ever growing and ever changing paranormal equipment or "tool box" is what you make of it!   As each year passes, it seems the equipment we use becomes smaller and more compact.   Well, maybe not all of the cable and lines of power cords....but wireless is definitely getting better.   This list is a bit different than when I first started paranormal investigations in central Oklahoma in 2001.   And so, with that said, here's what EPS uses:

Video Cameras - hand held digital and also wireless video cameras are used.   Some large and some small.  Some use body cams which makes it easy to walk around a site hands-free.  Security cameras (basic cams you can set up for home security) are set up around a site.

Audio Equipment - so many different type of audio equipment can be used to investigate.  It really depends on the investigators personal preference and also bank account.

Headphones, ear buds, etc., are a nice tool to have handy.

EMF, GAUSS, meters.   There are so many to pic from.  here are a few.   These pieces of equipment are a necessity to gauge high levels of EMF which can be a health risk.

Ambient Air gauges.   sound guages, air density as well as motion sensors.

  1. You will need a camera with sharp resolution.  Taking pictures in the dark and low light will mean the lens will be left open for longer periods of time.

  2. You want a high megapixel camera with low light (or SLR), image stabilization, and controlled flash digital camera.  Zoom with large and clear view screens, and night time settings make it even better.

  3. Other options include GPS (for marking exactly where the picture was taken) and Wi-Fi so you can send it to your team members right after you capture an interesting photo.  Batter drain is a problem with these extra options.

  4. Another good thing to have is a tripod...a must if it is an SLR. The SLR's won't "create" orbs and are the best for taking pictures in darkness.

  5. Tip, bigger lenses soak up light on the way to the lens. You can't get great light at long distance (zoom) so you will need to compromise there.

  6. There are many great cameras out there at varied prices.   I hate to tell you to go out now and spend thousands of dollars on a camera!

  7. Infra Red Cameras are very good to have, but expensive.

Full Spectrum Cams are also used by many investigators.
Check professional reviews before purchase.
