COMMON QUESTIONS

1.  What is your definition of Paranormal Activity?

Paranormal Activity is activity which occurs out of the normal realm of our understanding.   Example:  An empty paper cup sitting on a table will move a bit with a fan blowing on it. Now, take that same paper cup and fill it with water with the fan blowing at the same speed as the empty cup.  If the cup of water moves the SAME AMOUNT as the empty cup, that would be para, or out of the ordinary.    Paranormal means out of the normal understanding of our world and its scientific explanations.

2.  Why do you think ghosts/Paranormal activity exists?

I think there are many levels of existence in our world.  I think that our reality is only what our current level of “evolution” will allow.  Okay, that’s kinda deep, but to make a long story short, I think we are surrounded by much unknown and as yet, unexplained energy.  But, I do believe the day will come when we will be able to scientifically identify exactly what this spirit energy is.

For me personally, yes, I do believe but it is very rare.   It takes several different forms of evidence together to claim with confidence that something or someplace is haunted.  Personal accounts, (with lie detector equipment) plus electronic, EMF, Gauss, Static, Radio, Radioactive, as well as heat, humidity, moisture, meter readings as well as video, audio and time elapsed data…..all together….can build a very good “case” of paranormal activity.

However, it should be known to any good investigator…. just as a detective collects their evidence to provide proof of a crime in a court of law, the good paranormal investigators prepare the same kind of “case” study.  Only a few have tried to bring them before a real court of law though.  Ha!

3) Are there different types of spirits/ghosts? If so, what are they?

In my understanding and experience, there are as many different kinds of spirits or ghosts as there are different kinds of people.    Most are very sad.    Some are so sad they are very angry and confused!    Some are kind, some are shy, many just want to be left alone and get upset if disturbed.

Evil is real.   HOWEVER……it has been my experience that truly evil or demonic spirits are EXTREMELY RARE.    Never believe a ghost hunter who says they run into demons all the time.    It’s simply not true.    If they did, they would not be “bragging” about it, believe me.

4)  Do different types of ghosts have different ways of haunting?

Interesting question!   Yes, a shy ghost will most likely be the scariest of all as they are afraid, and really don’t want to be bothered.  Those shy ones are the ones who make the biggest noises or object movements.   At least in my experience. Angry ghost enjoy sudden bursts of energy, slams and loud noises, then a very abrupt or nasty comment collected as an EVP.  Those that are confused tend to do very simple things like, move your car keys from your desk to your dining room table, strange things like that.

Hauntings have their own categories.  To me, there are two main categories.  There are Residual Hauntings and there are True Hauntings.  A Residual Haunting is most common.    For example, when someone says they always hear footsteps down the hall at 10:00 every evening, this is a residual.  Like a record player.    An energy was imprinted on that area long ago, perhaps the person walking was very upset and started to pace, leaving their “energy” there.    Many residual haunting are caused by people who are still alive, believe it or not!     There’s a lot of interesting reading out there on residual haunting if you’re ever interested in looking into them.  I enjoy the studies of Nikola Tesla, for example.

A True Haunting is rarer.   It’s when you can collect all of the scientific data identified above in number 2, including a Class A EVP (audio recording) indicting a coherent and clear response from spirit.   Example of a class A EVP would be if I asked as specific question, like “We are coming in to talk with you do you wish to talk”  and we get a response that is longer than just a word or two like “Oh no!  They are coming in we got to get out of here!”.     This is a true evp.   If you wish I can share a few with you, let you hear them and decide for yourself.

5)  What made you want to become a Paranormal Investigator?

I was a spiritual reader in New York (psychic readings, Tarot, Palmistry.  I've had over 300 regular clients.  I then, moved to Tulsa, OK in 1998.  I discovered not many people in Oklahoma were interested nor very open to what I did.  I needed an outlet for my spirituality.    Therefore, I sought out similar folks in Oklahoma who were in not only interested in the psychic research, but also paranormal research.  I got very lucky when I met these folks.   I’ve not looked back since!

6)  How dangerous can paranormal investigating become?

Without a doubt the most dangerous part of para-investigation is the location.   Is it a safe area or is it condemned???   Seriously, if your location is filled with bat poop, rat poop, or infested with bugs, you are in danger of getting very sick or as in an abandoned building,… falling through the floors!

That is the real No. 1 danger in para-investigation!   Also, running into grouchy homeless people or trouble makers.    Always have permission before you enter a site or you may find yourself being arrested for trespassing! That’s something a good para-investigator never does….go without written permission!

On the spiritual dangers?    I always advise folks to only attend an investigation with a good positive outlook and keep nervous fears out of it.   If you’re afraid, you will not have a very good experience and you will also run the risk of taking negative “vibes” or energy back home with you. Maintain a positive attitude and you’ll be fine.

7)  What is one of the most dangerous cases you've worked on?

Again, dangerous investigations are those in abandoned buildings.  Especially if people are scared and running!   Only the calmest folks make the best investigators.   I have seen too many people physically harmed from not using their heads and getting scared and running into walls!

Spiritually speaking, the worst I have seen are unusual hand prints on folks, like they were slapped and the red hand mark comes up on their neck or face.    Another I’ve seen are scratched, but those are usually explainable.   Some people have a hard time breathing.  It varies.

8) Do you think that the ghost movies display the right interpretations of paranormal activity/investigating?

No,   Paranormal investigating in real life is actually pretty boring.  It’s 75% setting up equipment and 25% waiting around for something to happen.   In the 17 years (and about 360 investigations), only 5 investigations have been deemed UN-explainable, therefore haunted.  It is real and it is exciting, but certainly not as the movies try to display!

In fact, many people join teams thinking it’s going to be like in the movies, but when they see it’s actually a lot of work and kind of boring, they leave the team…..usually after their first investigation!

Para-investigation is all about putting the puzzle pieces together to see if it’s real or not.

9)  What was your first paranormal experience?

My first paranormal experience was as it is with most people.   It happened when I was a child.   My family lived in an old, 3 story, English Tudor home in Buffalo, NY.  One evening, as I was in the living room watching TV, a shadow of a soldier showed on the window next to the fireplace.  It then moved through the widow and into the living room. Then walked through the room and disappeared.  I later identified it as a Northern Civil War Soldier from the uniform.     It was real.    But of course, nobody would believe me!

10)  How often do you have to work on paranormal activity cases?

Since 1998, I’ve worked over 360 individual cases. About 1 or 2 a month, but then we do have slow times.  I like it best when we have a specific research sites to go to.  Such as the Dewey Hotel Museum and the Brewery.  We also have done “repeat” investigations as a sort of check up.
